2010 Steamboat Ski Marathon at Lake CatamountEnter early and save $$
Lake Catamount has a base elevation of 7200 feet, and the rolling course has a total gain of 500 feet. The Steamboat Ski Marathon is on a rolling course on Catamount ranch. The course is a beautiful course overlooking the Yampa Valley. We will have 2 aid stations. The finish line is on a gentle downhill grade about 1.5 km. Lincoln Avenue 100
The 3rd Annual Lincoln Avenue 100m Sprint had it largest field ever with about 50 skiers vying for the fastest skier in Steamboat Springs. Titles went to the fastest male and female in the junior and senior divisions. Four lanes were set up between 8th and 9th street on Lincoln for the four person elimination heats and the two person head to head final battle. (more...)

Summer storage for classic skisThe method that you should use for classic skis is as follows:
1. Make sure all kick wax is gone from your kick zone. Use some type of wax remover, and make sure there is no kick on there at all (this is something you really need to do before you wax at any time of the year).
2. Hot scrape your glide zones to get any dirt and junk out. To do this you just have to scrape a warm wax (think SWI (more...)

Wax/Ski Prep TipIn the high altitude, arid Rocky Mountains, we get a lot of dry, cold snow, which calls for lots of hard glide wax days.
First, I make sure my skis have plenty of soft wax in the bases. I’ll iron in several layers of Base Prep Nordic (BP99), then scrape and brush.

Bruce’s Trail was built with October storms like this one in mind.
Located on Rabbit Ears Pass, near Steamboat Springs, Colo., the 4.3 kilometers of rolling terrain was deliberately designed on a north-facing slope in a deep evergreen forest, all the better to shield autumn snow from the sun.

Bruce’s Trail update!BRUCE'S TRAIL IS OPEN! The Snow is great, firm and 28 degrees. Bruce’s trail will be groomed and maintained by the Steamboat Springs Nordic Council and the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. We will groom every day it snows until the Steamboat Ski Touring Center opens. Grooming is very costly and DONATIONS for the expense would be greatly appreciated.

22nd Annual Steamboat Stampede January 6th, 2007The Steamboat Stampede has become the longest standing xc ski race in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and is now one of the Colorado Cup Events.
