Update 3/16/2006

  1. Watching the race: While a 42k and 90k loop event is not the best fan venue, there are several spots along the course where you can watch the race in progress and be a good athletic supporter.
    1. Start line at 7:30 and 8:00 am for the 90k and 42k respectively
    2. Start line/Feed 1 between 8:15 and 10:00 am when racers come through the 13.5k lap around the lake.
    3. At Columbine (22k) on 129 just north or the start area.  If you turn left out of the Steamboat Lake Visitors Center on RCR 129 and go about 4-5 miles you will come to Columbine.  You can view either from the beginning of town (small aid station and timer will be there), or down the road another mile at the Quarry.  There is parking at the Quarry.
    4. After this point it would require skiing in to see the race.
  2. Drop bags:
    1. In race drop bag:  When you check in at the Steamboat Lake Visitors Center on Saturday Morning between 6:30 and 7:30 am you can leave one bag with clothing, food, etc..  This bag will be transported by sled to the Carley Divide Aid Station at about 62k.  Since there are almost 50 skiers in the 90k please keep your bag to as small as possible.
    2. If you leave any gear or bags at the check in area they will be brought to Steamboat Lake Outfitters (finish area) by staff.
  3. Shuttles:  There will be a shuttle provided by Dutch Creek Ranch running between the parking area at Steamboat Lake State Park and the finish area at SLO.  The shuttle will run from noon until everyone is through.
  4. Feed stations: Chief of feed stations- Jon Hawes
    1. All feed stations will have energy drinks and water, Honey Stinger Gel, bananas, cookies, chips and other assorted snack foods.  Each aid station will also have some special dish.  Don’t have the menu at this time.  There will likely be camp fires burning at the stations and a warm tent and sleeping bag if you are cold or worn out.
    2. We have had a lot of late registrations and have tried to adjust supplies appropriately.  If you have a preferred energy or goo it would be good to bring a few of your own
